Greenvale / Fareshare 500,000 meals milestone reached

Posted: Friday, October 28, 2016

Greenvale are delighted to announce that we have donated enough potatoes to FareShare to provide 500,000 meals to people in need.

We have been working with FareShare since 2013, FareShare's mission is to fight hunger by tackling food waste. They save good food destined for waste and send it to charities and community groups who transform it into nutritious meals for vulnerable people. The food they redistribute is fresh, quality and in date surplus from the food industry and the charities they work with can be found across the UK.

Over the past 3 years we have donated from our Floods Ferry site two pallets of potatoes each week and half a pallet a week from our site at Duns. Totalling an amount of 218 tonnes of potatoes, the potatoes donated come from samples taken at intake for quality control which would otherwise go to waste.

We hope to continue working with FareShare and provide another 500,000 meals over the next 3 years.
