A spud-tacular Royal visit for Greenvale

Greenvale expected a good turnout for the cookery demonstration which they sponsored at this year’s Turriff Show in Aberdeenshire, but it never expected a visit from Her Majesty The Queen.

As the UK’s largest grower and supplier of potatoes, and with a site at Burrelton, Greenvale attended Scotland’s second largest agricultural show for the first time in order to promote its Greenvale potato brand.

Not only did we have an exhibition stand at the show but were sponsoring the cookery demonstration given by Lady Clare MacDonald in which she used Greenvale potatoes in her recipes.

It was during the demonstration that a certain Queen Elizabeth popped in to observe the proceedings, casting her eye over the spuddy delicious recipes being cooked up by Lady Clare.

Unphased by the Royal presence, Lady MacDonald whipped up a warm potato salad, potato pancakes and a potato-free dark chocolate and raspberry tart; chatting with Her Majesty about the recipes, whilst the team from Greenvale looked on in amazement.

Aside from the Royal visit, Greenvale’s presence at the show was a roaring success; with the team serving up Greenvale baked potatoes to hundreds of visitors on both days of the show and raising money for Scottish charities: Scottish Air Ambulance, Motor Neuron Disease, Scottish Huntingdon’s & Perth Autism.
